California Microwave Inc. announced it is expecting earnings per share for its 1996 fiscal year third quarter ending March 31 to be in the range of 5 cents to 10 cents as a result of lower than projected bookings and related sales in its wireless communications business. The company reported earnings of 36 cents per share for its third quarter last year.
IBM Corp. has reached service agreements with Ardis, AT&T Wireless Services, Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile, CellularOne, GTE Mobilnet, RAM Mobile Data, and Three sixty Communications. The company said the agreements signal IBM’s determination to be a leader in the emerging network computing marketplace. IBM will become a preferred provider of mobile data service solutions for carriers.
Ameritech Corp.’s board of directors declared a regular first-quarter dividend of 53 cents per share. The dividend amount is the same as the previous quarter and is a 6 percent increase from the first quarter 1995. The first quarter dividend is payable May 1 to shareowners of record March 29, the company said.
Metromedia International Group Inc. announced an exclusive agreement with DSC Communications Corp. to introduce DSC’s Multispan, a new wireless telephony technology, in MITI networks in Eastern Europe and the Far East. Multispan is based on a combination of DSC’s access multiplexer technology and its advanced wireless fixed access system.
Motorola Inc.’s Advanced Messaging Systems Division announced the shipment of 100 Tenor advanced voice personal communicator units to Paging Network Inc. Motorola said PageNet will use Tenor in its field tests of VoiceNow, the company’s first narrowband personal communications service offering, which PageNet expects to launch later this year.
InterDigital Communication Corp. reported a net income of $34.3 million, or 74 cents per share, for the year ended 1995 compared with a loss of $14.3 million, or 38 cents per share, in 1994. The company said it has entered into two separate worldwide marketing and technology development agreements with Siemens AG and Samsung Electronics Co. InterDigital and its alliance partners plan to accelerate the commercialization of products based on Time Division Multiple Access and Broadband Code Division Multiple Access technologies and establish B-CDMA as a worldwide standard.
Bell Atlantic Nynex Mobile announced it will acquire Georgia Rural Service Area 2 from Horizon Cellular. The area covers Barrow and Hall counties and stretches from the South Carolina border on the north to areas in suburban Atlanta in the south, BANM said. The acquisition represents about 286,000 pops, said the company.
