LONDON-The board of directors of Cable & Wireless plc said talks are on again with British Telecommunications. The “exploratory discussions … may or may not lead to a merger of the two companies,” reported the United Kingdom-based wireless giant.
The news of resumed discussions follows an announcement last month that talks between Cable & Wireless and BT regarding a merger had ceased. At that time Peter Eustace, Cable & Wireless’ media relations manager, said BT originally approached Cable & Wireless after the latter company’s chairman and chief executive officer each said they would leave the company last November.
