SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. announced Christopher Galvin, currently president and chief operating officer, will become chief executive officer of the company effective Jan. 1. Galvin is grandson of Motorola founder Paul Galvin.
Galvin will succeed Gary Tooker, who has been vice president and CEO. Tooker will become chairman of the company, replacing William Weitz, who is retiring. Weitz will act as vice chairman of the company until May. Executive Vice President Robert Growney will move to Galvin’s position.
