ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s European Cellular Infrastructure Division deployed a digital microcellular system for Belgacom Mobile to expand and enhance its network in Belgium.
Belgacom Mobile operates the Proximus Global System for Mobile communications network. The company said it required in-building coverage as a transparent extension of its existing mobile network to allow subscribers to use their mobile phones inside office buildings without loss of call quality.
Motorola installed its picocellular capacity solution in Belgacom’s 32-story headquarters. Following that successful implementation, Motorola and Belgacom installed a full microcellular underlay network in the center of Brussels.
