Nuance, Cisco enter agreement

MENLO PARK, Calif.-Nuance, which provides voice Web software, has signed an agreement with Cisco Systems to incorporate its speech recognition and voice authentication software into Cisco’s Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data products.

According to the agreement, Cisco will integrate Nuance’s speech software into its products as part of its Internet Protocol-based enterprise communication solutions, including Cisco’s Call Manager.

“Cisco’s integration of Nuance software is a clear endorsement of our technology, and a testament to Cisco’s dedication to providing leading-edge technology to its customers,” said Ron Croen, Nuance president and chief executive officer. “Together, we’ll help usher in the Voice Web generation.”

The AVVID products are scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2001.
