BANGKOK, Thailand—Hutchison CAT Wireless Multimedia plans to upgrade its CDMA network to offer third-generation (3G) service, according to international press reports. The company will use its current 800 MHz spectrum for the upgrade, reports said.
The carrier, formerly known as Tawan Telecom and owned by the government, is installing new base stations within Bangkok for the service. The Bangkok Post said the carrier had switched from Lucent to Motorola to supply the network.
