ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.—Ntelos Inc. awarded a $44 million contract to Motorola Inc.’s Global Telecom Solutions Sector to upgrade the carrier’s CDMA network to 1x capability and install new call switching capacity.
The contract includes upgrading existing base station transceivers and covers Ntelos’ networks in Huntington, Morgantown, Charleston, Beckley and Bluefield, W. Va.; and Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Danville, Martinsville, Roanoke, Waynesboro and Staunton, Va.
“With this contract, we will equip our network with the infrastructure necessary for future wireless subscriber growth,” said James Quarforth, chief executive officer of Ntelos.
