Harris County 911, Ford demonstrate emergency rescue telematics system

HOUSTON—Greater Harris County 911 Emergency Network of Houston is teaming with Ford Motor Co. to show off its emergency rescue telematics system at the National Emergency Number Association annual conference in Indianapolis next week.

The telematics technology, created by Cross Country automotive Services, Ford Motor Co., Intrado Inc., SBC, Plant Equipment Inc. and Veridian, alerts a response center when an accident occurs and transmits details like the magnitude of the accident and the number of people involved. Five-hundred Ford Crown Victoria police cars in Harris and Fort Bend Counties, Texas, are being equipped with the technologies.
