BELLEVUE, Wash.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. chief technology officer Rod Nelson was elected chariman of the board of governors for the 3G Americas industry organization, succeeding Cingular Wireless L.L.C. CTO Bill Clift beginning in January. Clift, who served as chairman of the GSM technology-based organization since its inception last March, will serve as chairman emeritus.
“3G Americas is an important trade association benefiting many key stakeholders throughout the entire wireless industry,” Nelson said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead the distinguished representatives on its board of governors as we continue to successfully progress the GSM/GPRS, EDGE and UMTS technologies in the Americas.”
