SHANGHAI, China-Alcatel said it has won a series of deals to supply GSM/GPRS infrastructure equipment to China Mobile, the country’s largest carrier.
The contracts, valued at $30 million, will cover cities in Zhejiang province, including Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Jianxing, Jinghua, Huzhou and Lishui.
The contracts will involve China Mobile’s subsidiaries. Alcatel will upgrade and expand the networks and provide home location registers.
The networks, which will roll out in August, will increase its end-user capacity to up to 16 million subscribers.
Yesterday, Alcatel announced another contract win in Brunei to supply operator DataStream Technology with a GPRS/EDGE network.
