MINNEAPOLIS-NextNet Wireless Inc., a provider of non-line-of-sight broadband wireless access systems, has raised an additional round of funding it plans to use to expand its markets, deployments and product line.
Funding was led by private investment company COM Holdings L.L.C., which is controlled by wireless mogul Craig McCaw. Financial details were not disclosed. “I am excited by the prospects, opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for NextNet,” said McCaw, adding that he expects the company to “be a leading player in the broadband wireless industry.”
Through COM Holdings, McCaw is also a significant shareholder in Nextel Communications Inc., ICO Global Communications Ltd. and Nextel Partners Inc.
