LOS ANGELES-Wireless content companies Meca Communications and Ipsh! announced they will offer a personal computer application that allows users to send instant messages across IM services from MSN, Yahoo!, America Online Inc. and also through wireless text messages. The companies said their new Messenger Interoperable Carrier Interoperable Platform will target roughly 120 million PC users and 100 million mobile-phone users.
“Meca strives to connect people regardless of device or messenger, and MICI is a fine example of that vision becoming reality,” said Bruce Klickstein, the company’s president.
Already wireless carriers are offering mobile-phone access to popular instant-messaging programs including those from MSN, AOL and others.
