Wireless companies score new funding

Three wireless companies garnered new funding this week.

Motorola Inc. participated in the funding, which brought total investments in the company to $14 million. Propagate plans to use this financing to expand sales and engineering resources in the United States and China.

Location-based services company Wherify Wireless Inc. announced it has closed a $3 million round of funding, bringing the total amount raised by Wherify in Series C funds to $24 million and total investments in the company to more than $40 million.

Wherify, which is preparing to merge with IQ Biometrix Inc., said it will use the funds to support the launch of its new Aided-GPS Locator Phone and for business development activities in new markets in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Finally, Azimuth Systems Inc., which provides wireless network test platforms, closed $10.5 million in equity funding.

Azimuth’s total investments now stand at $23.5 million, said the company.

The latest round of funding was co-led by North Bridge Venture Partners and Kodiak Venture Partners, both existing investors in the company. The proceeds will be used to scale sales and customer support as well as fund development of its next-generation wireless local area network test platform.
