MUNICH, Germany-Research In Motion announced it will offer an aftermarket BlackBerry Connect software download for PalmSource Inc.’s Palm operating system.
The partnership will allow Palm OS wireless device owners to sign up for BlackBerry wireless services, including the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service.
“We believe that RIM’s innovative BlackBerry wireless platform and PalmSource’s robust operating system will enable customers with Palm Powered devices to enjoy the freedom and productivity benefits of wireless e-mail on the go,” said David Nagel, president and chief executive officer of PalmSource.
RIM also this week announced its BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 Release Candidate is now available. RIM said the new version features simplified deployment, enhanced handheld asset control, additional wireless security capabilities, enhanced wireless data experience and simplified application development.
