Sprint to supply Wi-Fi at new coffee chain

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Corp. reported a multi-year agreement to provide local, long-distance, Internet and Wi-Fi services to the recently launched Juan Valdez Café coffee shop locations in New York City and Washington, D.C., as well as an additional 25 locations scheduled to be opened across the country during the next six months.

Financial terms of the agreement were not released, but Sprint noted the deal was its first retail placement for Wi-Fi services following a number of recent agreements in the hospitality market.

Sprint also announced the appointment of William Swanson to its board of directors, bringing the total number of board members to 11 directors. Swanson is currently chairman and chief executive officer of defense contractor Raytheon Co.
