Gaming companies partner on multiplayer games

HONG KONG-The Mobile Media Company AS and Viva la Mobile announced a partnership to provide third-generation multiplayer games to wireless carriers worldwide.

Viva la Mobile, an Australia-based mobile-game developer, will offer games such as “Badlands,” which is a Java-based tank battle game. Under the partnership, mobile subscribers can play against other subscribers in real time, said the company.

“We expect these games to have real appeal among consumers looking for a fun and interactive gaming experience,” said David J. Wong, executive vice president and general manager of Mobile Media Asia Pacific. “By early 2005, a mobile user in Hong Kong will be able to play ‘Badlands’ in real-time against a gamer in Italy.”
