Linktone sponsors mobile content contest in China

SHANGHAI, China-Linktone Ltd., which provides interactive entertainment services to Chinese consumers, said it is sponsoring a nationwide contest to find original mobile content.

Linktone said the goal of the contest, among other things, is to acquire creative new content for its users. Contest participants will be asked to send a text message to Linktone and submit their mobile content in one of four categories-stories, photographs or illustrations, flash and color ringback tones. The submissions will be published on the contest Web page and judged by a committee including journalists, authors and Linktone executives.

The winning entry will be based on recommendations of the committee as well as results of online voting.

“This contest creates a unique environment for attracting and publishing content developed by creative individuals,” said Raymond Yang, chief executive officer of Linktone. “Linktone’s sponsorship of the program targets the interests of the younger generation in wireless value-added services and content through the discovery and cultivation of individual talent and creativity. In addition to providing opportunities to aspiring mobile content developers, we expect the contest to promote wireless value-added services and Linktone to a broader audience of potential users.”

The contest is scheduled to last six months and is co-sponsored by two local magazines, Mengya and HuGang Economics.
