Chinese mobile market to reach 580M by 2010

SAN FRANCISCO-The number of mobile subscribers in China is expected to grow to 580 million by the end of 2010, according to a new report form Visiongain.

The study, “The China Mobile Market,” said China’s mobile market has a moderate penetration level-25.7 percent-compared with other leading markets. Nidhir Maudgalya, telecommunications analyst at Visiongain, said the country’s subscriber levels should reach 386 million by the end of this year from 334 million last year.

The study also said China has potential as a handset manufacturing hub.
