PHOENIX-Just in case subscribers need a virtual coach on the go, Sprint Nextel Corp. and Bones in Motion launched a mobile fitness application for GPS-enabled CDMA and iDEN phones.
BiMActive said the service is the first in a suite of applications designed to let active subscribers use their phones and the Internet to achieve fitness and lifestyle goals. The companies explained that the new offering enables runners, cyclists and walkers to wirelessly capture and monitor their activity in real-time on GPS-enabled phones. When users complete their activity, the exercise information is uploaded to www.bimactive.com where users can chart their progress and share information such as routes with ratings and reviews.
“Whether you are training for a triathlon or walking to get in shape, BiM Active is a motivational tool that provides instant audible feedback during the activity and support and information online,” said Andrew Graham, chief executive officer of Bones in Motion. “Our vision is to create a truly interactive experience and virtual community that helps people achieve their fitness goals.”
BiM Active is available for $10 per month.
