LAS VEGAS—Motorola Inc. made a range of announcements ahead of the CTIA Wireless 2006 show, unveiling a new version of its super-slim Razr phone as well as a variety of other products and services.
Motorola said its new Razr V3m is built for CDMA networks and includes an integrated digital music player and MicroSD memory card slot. Motorola sells a variety of Razr models for GSM and CDMA networks, but the company’s new V3m is the first CDMA Razr to feature a digital music player.
The offering could stand as stiff competition for handset vendors such as Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Nokia Corp. and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications L.P., which sell a range of music-capable devices.
Motorola said the V3m would be available in the next few months. The company did not say which carriers would offer the device.
In other Motorola announcements:
–The company unveiled a new CDMA phone, the W315. The company did not say which carriers would offer the new mid-range device.
–The company introduced its new NC800 wireless router, which it will sell in Latin America through distribution company Brightstar. The router supports Wi-Fi and CDMA networks, and allows users to set up portable hot spots routed through a CDMA data connection.
–The company said it teamed with Bytemobile Inc. to integrate Bytemobile’s Unison offering into Motorola’s Global Applications Management Architecture. The companies said the teaming would help service providers offer flexible and personalized ways to charge for and sell content services.
