U.S. Cellular taps Numerex to ease customer technology transition

ATLANTA—Numerex Corp. said it won a contract to supply regional wireless operator U.S. Cellular Corp. with fixed and mobile wireless machine-to-machine gear designed to help the carrier transition legacy analog customers to its digital network.

Numerex Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stratton Nicolaides stated that, “this relationship brings additional digital network capabilities to U.S. Cellular customers while helping to ensure a seamless migration process from analog cellular to digital network technology.”

Nicolaides added that his company expects to announce general availability of its CDMA2000 and 1x network solutions during the third quarter of 2006.

Terms of the U.S. Cellular agreement were not disclosed.
