Sprint Nextel unveils Fusic 2.0: Muziq

Sprint Nextel Corp. unveiled, though didn’t launch, a new, music-friendly handset that includes support for larger memory cards as well as an FM transmitter that allows users to listen to tunes through a radio.
The Muziq from LG Electronics Co. Ltd. supports Sprint TV and over-the-air, full-track downloads, and features an expandable memory card slot capable of reading microSD cards of up to 4 gigabytes. The phone, an updated, slimmed-down version of last year’s Fusic, comes with an FM transmitter that can play music from the device through unused FM channels.
Muziq users can also download an application, called Pandora Mobile, that delivers personalized streaming radio.
“This device reaffirms Sprint’s commitment to offer innovative music devices that enable customers to get music wherever they are and listen to music however they desire, whether that is through Bluetooth headphones, their car stereo or the device itself,” said Oliver Valente, Sprint Nextel’s senior VP of product development.
The handset weighs in at just over three ounces and will sell for $100 with a two-year contract. Sprint Nextel said the device will be available through its retail locations, online and over the phone beginning July 15.
