The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
—Mogreet: Ascend Ventures, Black Diamond Ventures and Spyglass Ventures participated in a $5 million round of funding into Venice Beach, Calif.-based Mogreet, which provides video messaging for mobile phones. Existing investor DFJ Frontier also participated in the Series B funding round. As part of the financing, Chris Lucas, a managing partner at Black Diamond Ventures, and Sharon Graves, a partner at Ascend Ventures, join the company’s board of directors.
—RockYou: Softbank led a $17 million round of funding into RockYou, a social Web applications developer. The company said its total funding now stands at $67 million. RockYou, based in Redwood City, Calif., said it will use the funding to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific market. The company also plans to expand its domestic presence, including opening offices in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit.
—WiChorus: Pinnacle Ventures led a $43 million round of funding into WiChorus, which provides scalable platforms for Smart 4G networks. Existing investors Redpoint Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Accel Partners also participated in the round. The funding will be used for working capital. Ken Pelowski, founder and managing director of Pinnacle Ventures, joins the company’s board of directors as an observer as part of the funding.
