Global Telecom: DoCoMo partners with China Mobile for LTE

•NTT DoCoMo is teaming up with China Mobile to offer customers traveling to China outbound roaming on the TD-LTE China Mobile network. DoCoMo customers will see speeds up to 150 megabits per second on the LTE network. The company also is planning to partner with other mobile carriers to offer more customers LTE roaming services while traveling abroad.

•TalkTalk has signed a new mobile network virtual operator deal with Telefonica UK. The agreement will move mobile customers onto Telefonica UK’s 2G, 3G and 4G infrastructure. TalkTalk was providing their virtual network through Vodafone, but is dropping them in the new agreement. TalkTalk has increased its customer base by 9.5% in the last two years.

•Vodafone Australia has launched an LTE-Advanced network across Melbourne. Today 678 new LTE-A sites will go live in Victoria and more than 70 others are being switched on within the next six weeks. Vodafone reports that there are now almost 2 million devices connected to the Vodafone 4G network from around Australia.

•SoftBank is launching a new TV streaming service. Customers will be able to pay for channels on mobile phones, tablets and computers. Initially customers will be able to subscribe to 12 different channels, but SoftBank plans to add 50 more by spring. The service will be available to all cellphone subscribers, not just SoftBank customers.
