Blues and RAKwireless team up to offer modular industrial IoT modules

IoT provider Blues and hardware maler RAKwireless have combined their connectivity and hardware products in a modular industrial IoT developer solution, offering interchangeable IoT components and global IoT connectivity. The solution combines a pre-configured IoT connectivity solution from the former with a composable interface board from the latter. It is targeted at “global customers” deploying equipment monitoring and asset tracking solutions, they said.

The pair have combined the Notecard module from Blues with the WisBlock RAK13102 interface board from RAKwireless, in a new product called Blues.ONE – which offers cellular IoT and also LoRa-based connectivity options. Blues said its Notecard series is now available across RAKwireless’ portfolio of WisBlock modules, sensors, and enclosures.

“Industrial IoT products are often stalled by complex physical design features and incompatibility between connectivity options,” said Blues in a statement. It added: “Interchangeable components make it easy to adjust, tailor and refine IIoT solutions and connectivity options, even for less technical users… With cellular and LoRa options… customers… can rapidly create industrial IoT solutions that support wireless harmonisation.”

Brandon Satrom, vice president of developer experience and vice president of product at Blues, said: “[This] partnership… is revolutionary for industrial IoT advancement, bringing together Blues’ scalability, security and simplicity, and the unique modularity of the WisBlock ecosystem. With Blues’ Notecard, RAKwireless’ Blues.ONE and RAK13102 will simplify programming for engineers, allowing them to streamline IIoT product deployment. It’s now easier than ever to build cellular industrial IoT solutions using bundled coverage and data in over 139 countries.”

Ken Yu, chief executive at RAKwireless, said: “Blues’ Notecard and RAKwireless’ WisBlock solutions offer a simplified and seamless IIoT connectivity solution that bypasses traditional complexities. This partnership accelerates prototyping and provides users with a holistic solution that enables smooth transitions across regions. The adaptability of Blues’ technology and the assurance of backup connectivity ensures that our users can experience uninterrupted industrial IoT connectivity.”
