MUNICH-Siemens announced a partnership with printer company Canon to allow Siemens camera-phone users to print their images to Canon printers. The partnership falls under the Mobile Imaging Printing Consortium, a group of handset and printer manufacturers developing guidelines for interoperability between mobile phones and printers.
“Camera phones are enjoying great acceptance on a global base,” said Jens-Thomas Pietralla, chief marketing officer of Siemens’ Communications division. “Camera phones with increased camera resolution and convincing picture quality, such as the Siemens S65 and SF65, are opening the market for new imaging experiences, paving the way for the convergence between the photo and communications industries. The partnership with Canon represents a valuable milestone in Siemens’ mobile imaging.”
A variety of other handset makers and printer vendors have announced similar teamings and offerings.
