SAN DIEGO-Novatel Wireless Inc. released its newest W-CDMA laptop computer card, which the company said will work on the 2100 MHz band in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, as well as on GPRS and GSM networks on the 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. The company said the Merlin U630 card is shipping to some wireless carriers and is in testing with others.
Novatel makes a variety of W-CDMA laptop cards, and many see the company ahead of rival Sierra Wireless in the W-CDMA PC card space. Novatel sells W-CDMA PC cards through 15 operators in 17 countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
