Chinese carrier selects Lucent’s IMS solution

BEIJING-Lucent Technologies Inc. said Shandong Unicom will deploy an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem-based solution from Lucent, allowing the Chinese wireless carrier to offer Voice over IP residential and business services.

The converged next-generation network will allow Shandong Unicom customers to make calls among computers, traditional telephones, IP phones and wireless devices, Lucent said.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.
