The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular
- United States: Defense and aerospace company BAE Systems selected Nokia Corp. to build a GSM/EDGE network to support the company’s operations at its Merrimack, N.H., facilities. The contract includes a mobile softswitch solution, a packet core network solution, radio network equipment and the Nokia NetAct network and service management system.
Wi-Fi
- Malaysia: Malaysian telecom operator TMNet said it is extending the number of Wi-Fi hot spots it operates in the country using technology provided by Aptilo Networks.
- Russia: Golden Telecom Inc. said it plans to use wireless mesh network technology from Nortel Networks to build a wireless mesh network in Moscow. The network will consist of 5,000 Nortel Wi-Fi access points.
Miscellaneous
- Brazil: Brasil Telecom and 2Wire announced plans to offer 2Wire’s intelligent broadband gateways to Brasil Telecom’s small business subscribers. The products create wireless broadband networks within homes and small offices, said the companies.
