SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Intel Corp. launched its Manitoba PXA800F chipset for GSM/GPRS devices that the company claimed provides “wireless-Internet-on-a-chip” functionality and was the first to combine key components for cellular phones and handheld computers into a single piece of silicon.
Intel said the 0.13-micron Xscale-based cellular processor runs at 312 MHz, includes four megabytes of integrated On-Chip Flash memory, 512 kilobytes of SRAM, a 104 MHz signal processor using Intel’s MicroSignal architecture with 512 KB of integrated On-Chip Flash memory and 64 KB of SRAM.
The chip’s list price is $35 in 10,000 unit quantities with production volumes expected in the third quarter.
