Smartcom PCS in Chile grows by 50 percent in 2002

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina-According to Jaime Gros, general manager, Chilean cellular operator Smartcom PCS increased its client base and income by 50 percent during 2002 compared with the previous year, capturing 29 percent of new cellular phone users who signed up for the service in 2002. The strong growth has allowed the company to reach 15.5 percent of market penetration, with 950,000 customers and an income of US$150 million.
