Peru Credit Bank Implements Cisco Borderless Network Architecture

Cisco | June 23, 2011 | Press Release

Aim Is to Offer Constant and Reliable System Availability

LIMA, Peru, June 23, 2011 – Peru Credit Bank (BCP) has chosen the Cisco®Borderless Network Architecture to improve customer service, increase efficiency and reduce costs. The solution has allowed this financial group to move its workforce among branches without impacting workflows or losing contact with customers, as well as keeping the bank system active at all times. Since the end of 2010, the BCP has been working on upgrading its data centers, which involves a new design for the entire banking network.

The main purpose of the BCP is to offer high system availability and operating stability, which is translated into reliable service to customers. To achieve this goal, the BCP has decided to upgrade its network. “With a feasible network we will be able to improve high availability and reduce down times, which will help support a significant growth over the next few years,” said José Ichikawa, telecommunications director, Peru Credit Bank.

“At the bank, in the technology field, we have more than projects; we have a lifestyle, a continuous improvement cycle. What we look for in Cisco over the short and medium term is to optimize our practices and processes, and in the long term, to be able to offer a more consistent and robust network” Ichikawa said.

Multiple factors, including unified communications, Internet connectivity, pervasive network security and centralized information administration all help to ensure business continuity. Since its implementation about three years ago, the Cisco Borderless Network Architecture has allowed the BCP to reassign its workforce without losing communication with customers or affecting its operation.

Flexibility is not the only benefit that the BCP has obtained thanks to Cisco solutions. Ichikawa explains that Cisco Borderless Networks has also given to BCP the ability to speed processes and generate significant cost reductions, as communications are no longer through public networks but through IP. “The bank has seen cost reductions not only in terms of money but in terms of more production capacity,” Ichikawa noted.

Preparing for the Future

With the recent introduction in the country of the latest version of the Cisco Borderless Networks solution, organizations will be able to respond more easily to the new demands of the market. “Studies estimate that in 2015 companies will generate 50 percent of sales through mobile devices and social networks, that most employees will not need an office to be efficient and productive, and that video will constitute 91 percent of the global traffic of networks. All of these give us hints of what the new business scenarios will be like,” said Luis Garzón,Borderless Networks Sales Business Development, Cisco CANSAC.

“Our goal is to be a dynamic banking entity in all our processes. Our customers and employees need to access live data from multiple locations and devices. The Cisco Borderless Networks Architecture, which incorporates advanced wireless and security solutions, remote connectivity and dynamic video and voice services, is an essential solution to help us achieve our results,” concluded Ichikawa.
