BEDFORD, Mass.—Nextel Communications Inc. introduced an upgraded version of its Direct Connect feature in the New England area expanding the local calling area for the feature to include Eastern Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, Southern Maine and Rhode Island.
Previously, Nextel customers were limited to using the function within specific talk private networks or business networks. Nextel said it plans to roll out the improved features to all of its markets by the end of the year, and introduce nationwide Direct Connect by the end of next year.
