CHICAGO-Responding to demand for its digital wireless service in Chicago and Detroit, Ameritech Cellular Services Inc. said it accelerated deployment of its ClearPath service in additional Midwestern markets.
During the upcoming year, Ameritech plans to introduce its digital service, based on Code Division Multiple Access technology, in Milwaukee, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.
“We are really excited to bring our ClearPath service to customers throughout the region in 1998,” said Herbert Hribar, Ameritech’s president of cellular service. “However it’s important for our new and current customers to know that we will continue providing them the best quality cellular service through our existing analog network-before, during and after our ClearPath launch.”
Ameritech was the first communications company to commercially launch cellular service in North America in 1983, and has the highest customer retention rate in the industry, said the company.
