SAN DIEGO-AirTouch Paging is testing a medication reminder service in San Diego, offering the value-added service to customers for $13 a month.
Patients are paged on alphanumeric pagers when it’s time for medication. The information sent includes the medication, the dosage and special instructions. The technology was developed by Nemox Corp. The service is called Kinder Reminder.
AirTouch said misuse or non-use of medicine in the United States reportedly costs about $100 billion a year in health care costs.
The trials are being conducted at the University of California/San Diego medical school and may be used at a local diabetes clinic later this year, the company said. AirTouch Paging is a subsidiary of AirTouch Communications Inc.
