H.O. Systems

H.O. Systems has chosen Scott Berry as vice president of professional services. His 12 years of industry experience includes executive positions at Alltel, Convergys and Cellular One. At H.O., Berry will be responsible for streamlining and growing business operations for the company. Of his appointment, H.O.Os president Hart Williford said, “Not only does Scott understand the intricacies of billing, but he also has a vision for our continued growth into the professional services arena. Under his tutelage, we expect to be able to offer even more support to our customers through expanded services.”

Bonita Software Inc.

Bonita Software Inc., a privately held wireless company that specializes in developing Java-based technology for wireless, has added three to its executive team. Bjorn Nordwall joins Bonita as vice president of business development. He has 20 years of experience in the industry, most recently with Ericsson. Anders Molne, who has also held positions with Ericsson, will serve as vice president of product management. Jack Petro, who will be vice president of engineering, brings experience from Fujitsu, Nortel and ReadyCom. Together, these industry veterans bring 48 years of telecom and wireless experience to Bonita.

Standard Communications

Jeffery L. Colton has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Standard Communications. In this position, he will lead worldwide marketing and sales efforts for the company’s wireless division. Colton joins Standard from Saft America Inc., a division of Alcatel. He has also held senior positions with Sanyo Corp. and General Electric Co. He brings a total of 20 years of executive sales and marketing experience to the company.

Tellabs

Tellabs has made John T. Cole its new vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific. Based in Singapore, Tellabs’ regional headquarters, Cole will introduce new products and expand business in the Asia-Pacific area. Cole joins Tellabs with 12 years of experience with Motorola’s wireless business units throughout the Asia-Pacific. Tellabs also named Susan R. Lichtenstein its senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective June 1. Lichtenstein succeeds Carol Coghlan Gavin, who retired June 30. Lichtenstein’s responsibilities include: overseeing the Tellabs global legal department, which includes more than 20 members in six locations across five countries, as well as managing strategic alliances, patents, intellectual property, stock option plans, corporate compliance and ethics issues. Before joining Tellabs, Lichtenstein was senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Ameritech Corp. Her resume also includes experience as deputy corporation counsel for the City of Chicago and she practiced law as a partner of Schiff Hardin & Waite.

i3 Mobile

i3 Mobile recently hired Bryan McCann as its senior vice president of products and services. McCann, formerly vice president of wireless data at Sprint PCS, will be responsible for directing the strategy and development of the companyOs wireless data products and services. Before joining Sprint, McCann spent 16 years with New England Telephone. He joins several other recent additions to the i3 executive team, all striving to implement the companyOs Onew visionO: John McMenamin, new executive vice president of sales, Glen Morgan, new senior vice president of sales, Wes Trager, new chief technology officer and John Lack, new chief executive officer.

IFR Systems Inc.

IFR Systems Inc. announced that its vice president of corporate accounts, Sam Strang, will take on the additional role of vice president of sales for the Americas. He will now be responsible for all orders and distribution strategy for the Americas. According to Jeffrey Bloomer, IFROs chief executive officer, “Sam Strang has been an invaluable member of IFROs corporate sales team. … We expect him to make significant contributions in his expanded role as VP of Sales-Americas.” Following IFROs acquisition of Marconi, where Strang began as U.S. sales manager in 1994, Strang became IFROs global accounts manager. Previously, he spent more than 14 years in various senior sales management positions with Tektronix Inc. and earlier held positions at Bell & Howell Electronics.

ArialPhone Corp.

ArialPhone Corp., which provides voice-activated devices and voice-enabling software applications, has chosen Terry J. Baker as its new vice president of sales. Baker, formerly vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Cygnion Corp. and former director of worldwide sales and marketing at Ericsson Inc., will lead channel sales and distribution efforts in the U.S. for ArialPhone. Specifically, he is responsible for developing and executing a distribution strategy for the company’s new one-ounce wearable phone, set for a June launch. “As a young, growing company, we are extremely fortunate to have an executive of Terry’s caliber join our management team,” said Jim Alland, chief executive officer and co-founder of ArialPhone. “We are confident he will pave the way for our success in the distribution channel.”

Aspiro

At the May 9 general meeting of Aspiro AB, Tomas Althen, Stig M. Herbern, Lars H. Buzelius and Sven-Ake Bergkvist were re-elected to the company’s board of directors. In addition, Lars Jarnryd and Claes de Neergaard were elected to the board, while Klas Hallqvist, one of the founders of Aspiro, stepped down. Neergaard is currently a member of the board of several financial companies and advises the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Nordic Investment Bank. Jarnryd, currently a board member of five international telecommunications companies, has held various positions at Ericsson and has worked for SKF and Electrolux. Upon election, both Neergaard and Jarnryd were allocated 75,000 option rights, each of which gives the holder the right to subscribe in one share of Aspiro AB at $2.63 per share from January 1, 2003, through December 31, 2003.

Transcept Inc.

Transcept Inc., which designs and develops radio-frequency distribution products, has added Daniel P. Behuniak to its board of directors. Behuniak, currently a consultant for various investor groups interested in technology and communications, has been chairman of the board of Simple Communications, president and chief executive officer of UNIsite inc., and a corporate officer of Bell Atlantic Corp. According to Transcept, Behuniak was chosen for his wireless industry background and especially his expertise in infrastructure.

Unisys Corp.

Unisys corp. appointed Reginald Foster vice president and general manager of global communications. As such, Foster will pursue communications growth opportunities in value-added service, mobile commerce and IT infrastructures for the new breed of communications companies. Foster joined Unisys with more than 20 years of experience from American Management Systems Inc., most recently as chief e-commerce officer. He said, “I joined because of the company’s reputation as a leader in the communications industry, and because of the tremendous opportunities to leverage Unisys current market positioning.”

Endwave Corp.

Endwave Corp.’s executive vice president and company co-founder, Doug Lockie, will co-chair the Wireless Communications Association Engineering Task Force for Spectrum Policy Above 40 GHz. The task force’s initial objective is to develop and propose guidelines for FCC allocation of the 94 GHz band of spectrum for commercial use. Lockie holds more than 20 years of management and marketing experience in telecommunications as well as seven patents in high data rate communications. In addition to co-founding Endwave, Lockie previously founded Pacific Monolithics and Strategic Technologies.

Tropian Inc.

Tropian Inc. has made Javed Patel its vice president of sales and marketing. Patel, formerly a marketing executive for Anadigics, will be responsible for Tropian’s worldwide sales and marketing efforts. He served on Ana
digics’ senior management team for 15 years, after beginning his career as an RF engineer at RCA-Astroelectronics in 1979, and holding sales positions with Alpha Industries.

Cambridge Silicon Radio

CSR recently announced the hire of three new executives. Steve Wallick, sales vice president, worked for AMD and Alcatel Microelectronics managing original equipment manufacturer relationships, and groups of direct, distribution and sales representatives. Wallick will also manage the central region for CSR until a sales director is hired. Lisa Ray joins CSR as eastern regional sales director with 15 years of sales experience with Lucent Technologies Inc., where she specialized in the personal computer and wireless markets. Michael Haidar joins CSR’s San Jose office with more than 16 years of experience in the electronics industry. Haidar was previously with Parthus Technologies’ Bluetooth hardware and software development department, and managed direct sales and sales representatives in the Midwest and San Francisco areas.

Nextel Communications

Nextel Communications Inc. named William Kennard, former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, to its board of directors. “As a major driver in shaping the top telecommunications issues in recent years, Bill brings an unequaled depth of knowledge and discerning insight to our board,” said Timothy Donahue, president and chief executive officer of Nextel. “We look forward to Bill’s contributions as he helps us advance Nextel’s leadership role in providing customers with differentiated wireless services, employees with vibrant growth opportunities and shareholders with great value.” Kennard recently joined the Washington, D.C.-based Carlyle Group, a private equity company, where he serves as managing director of global telecommunications and media investing strategy. “Nextel’s unique wireless service offerings, coupled with its laser-like marketing strategy have already made the company a U.S. success story,” Kennard said. “I’m privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the company’s next great chapter.”

SignalSoft Corp.

SignalSoft Corp. has made Paul Mundinger its executive director of strategic alliances and Christie Cestero its director of new partner development. Mundinger will be specifically responsible for partner alliances in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America. He will also coordinate SignalSoft’s worldwide sales, operations, product management and marketing channel efforts. He comes to SignalSoft from Lucent Technologies. Cestero, who has been with SignalSoft since January 1998, will also work to develop partner relationships in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America. “Both Paul and Christie will be instrumental in introducing SignalSoft to new partners and maintaining those strong relationships,” said David Hose, SignalSoft’s president and chief executive officer.

Sierra Wireless

Sierra Wireless recently appointed Derek Evans to vice president of distribution for Europe. Evans has more than 20 years general management and sales and marketing experience within blue chip European companies in the wireless, telecommunications and consumer electronics industries. In this new role he will lead Sierra Wireless’s market entry initiatives in Europe including distribution, sales, business development and technical support. Sierra Wireless also announced the promotions of Glen Brownlee and David Sutcliffe. Brownlee, previously executive vice president and chief operating officer will now serve as president and chief operating officer. Sutcliffe, who joined Sierra Wireless as president and chief executive officer in 1995, will now serve as chairman and chief executive officer.

Delphi

Jeff Jonas has been appointed chief financial officer of Delphi Communication Systems. In this role, Jonas will head financial and administrative operation and will help position the company for future growth. “I’m eager to help Delphi emerge as a forerunner in the next generation DSP and wireless markets,” said Jonas. His more than 10 years of financial management experience includes positions at 100xVentures.com and the high technology group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

NTRU

Elizabeth Robertson has joined NTRU as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. As such, Robertson will be responsible of the company’s financial management, including global expansion efforts, corporate development and investor relations. Her more than 20 years of financial and operational management experience includes positions with Authentica, Wang Global Corp., Digital Equipment Corp. and Deloitte & Touche.

MobileStar

MobileStar Network Corp. appointed Robert A. Kaiser president and chief executive officer. Kaiser previously served as CEO of Broadband Solutions Group and has also held senior-level positions with SkyTel and Southwestern BellOs Mobile Systems. As CEO of MobileStar, Kaiser will oversee the national roll-out of the company’s network and wireless Internet service with several national retail, OEM and travel industry brands.

SBA Communications

Jeffrey A. Stoops, currently president of SBA, will take on the additional role of chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2002. Steven E. Bernstein, the company’s founder, chairman of the board of directors, and currently chief executive officer will remain chairman of the board. Since joining SBA in 1997, Stoops has served as SBAOs senior vice president, general counsel, chief financial officer and a member of board of directors and president.

Fulcrum Technologies

Fulcrum Technologies has added John Chapple, Richard P. Fox and John Scully to its board of directors. Chapple is president and chief executive officer of Nextel Partners, which he founded in 1998 with other former McCaw Cellular Communication executives. Fox, currently president and chief operating officer of CyberSafe, is also on the Northwest Venture Partners advisory committee. And John Scully is managing director of the general partner of Incepta Partners and a former vice president of U.S. West.
