SEATTLE-Wireless streaming-video company RealNetworks Inc. announced a series of new European customers the company said marks the beginning of the “hockey stick” in multimedia growth. The company also announced a major new licensing deal with Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.
As RealNetworks continues to expand its reach, so too does its market continue to expand. Research and consulting firm Zelos Group estimates there will be up to 40 million mobile phones sold this year capable of displaying audio and visual content. And as more and more operators launch third-generation networks, the numbers likely will continue to grow.
RealNetworks today announced it has more than 20 carrier deals covering more than 180 million subscribers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, agreements that include subsidies of Vodafone, Telef
