Gamblers in Nevada casinos will be able to use wireless devices to wager from casino bars, dance floors and poolsides under a new provision passed by lawmakers last week.
Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn signed off on AB471, which allows users to place bets from public areas in casinos with at least 100 slot machines and other games. Only one of the state’s 63 legislators opposed the measure.
The bill was initiated by Cantor G&W L.P., an affiliate of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald that has developed wireless gambling technology. Other wireless companies that worked to loosen regulations include Chimera Technology Corp., which is in the final testing stages of a wireless gaming platform, and Diamond I Inc., which is marketing a Wi-Fi gaming system.
“This is an extremely exciting development, and we are proud to have been a part of the legislative process,” said David Loflin, president of Diamond I.
